

Emma Lou Diemer (1927-2024)
About the Composer: Emma Lou Diemer is an American pianist, organist, and composer. She began performing and composing early in her life and became a church organist at the age of thirteen. She studied composition at both Yale and Eastman before continuing her studies in Brussels on a Fulbright Scholarship. She moved from the midwest to Santa Barbara, California in 1971 in order to teach theory and composition at the University of California, Santa Barbara and was a key leader in the development of their electronic music program. She resides in Santa Barbara to this day.
